Material/Inventory Control Specialist

Job Description:

The Material/Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for all activities related to receiving, inventory and materials required for staging, kitting and shipping for the project. This includes but is not limited to maintaining accurate inventory, safely and efficiently storing materials, generation and maintenance of kitting status and follow up with procurement on new buy request, past due and open purchase orders required.

This position will interact with various departments within the company such as procurement, engineering and production in order to process raw materials to the production team. Other responsibilities include following current processes and procedures to insure compliance with all applicable company, customer and regulatory requirements.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports receiving of materials, ensuring materials are processed through Receiving Inspection in a timely manner and stocked accordingly.
  • Ensures all incoming materials are stored in appropriate inventory locations.
  • Maintains segregated inventory locations for Government Property and rejected materials under the direction of Quality Assurance.
  • Ensures that the applicable established Quality Policies are implemented, maintained and reported to management team.
  • Supports shipping of materials to customers and suppliers.
  • Ascertain material requirements for assemblies and or end item by reviewing preliminary BOM’s/drawings, engineering released drawings and or list from engineering of required parts.
  • Coordinate necessity of kits for production with manufacturing team, engineers and PM.
  • Generate kit pull schedule based on production requirements and raw material availability.
  • Provide and maintain material status report on assemblies prior to and after picking components of assembly to be manufactured to other team members, i.e. Purchasing, PM, Production team, etc.
  • Proactively request material to be procured prior to need for production build.
  • Actively maintain inventory status through the daily data entry processing of items that have been issued out of stock.
  • Organize inventory in an efficient manner for processing kit picks and by appropriate stockroom.
  • Follow up with procurement on new buy request, shortages not received and past due dates.
  • Follow up with engineering on any material issue discrepancies.
  • Review and approve ECR’s.
  • Follow through on actionable items per ECR.
  • Insure a timely flow of raw materials to and from the receiving dock through the stockroom and or storage areas to a staged kitting area and or production floor.
  • Responsible for the inventory which includes organization, labeling of bays/shelves/containers and accuracy of system counts versus physical counts.
  • Responsible to stay current on all applicable training procedures required to perform job effectively and to maintain compliance with all company and regulatory procedures.
  • This position also requires the individual to be the alternate for both shipping and receiving.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in the field or related field
  • Great people skills with a strong ability to work in cross functional teams and promote accountability at all level
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point at minimum)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Working knowledge of handling electronic, mechanical and electromechanical parts and assemblies
  • Professional and ethical behavior
  • Ability to show up on time and be at work on a daily basis
  • Able to work overtime/weekends on occasion when required
  • Ability to operate forklift and similar equipment a plus
